Megyn Kelly goes mental while interviewing Kirsten Powers. Unexpectedly, and for no good reason (given the rules of cable news), she starts shouting at her guest. Powers was invited on the show, as usual, to give the Democratic Party perspective on things. So, when she does, Kelly goes bonkers. Unusual, but that’s about all.
They were discussing the actions of the Justice Department. There are very serious allegations that the Department is refusing to enforce the civil rights of whites; and they are refusing to enforce parts of the voting laws that might hurt Democrats. Several Justice Department lawyers have stepped forward to reveal this. This is all extremely serious, and Kelly should be feted for bringing it to the public’s attention.
But now comes that seeming Democrat, Dave Weigel. He has started calling Megyn Kelly a racist. Or impliedly doing so, since he says that the whole thing was “Megyn Kelly’s Minstrel Show”. Now, I thought we weren’t supposed to call things Minstrel shows, so maybe Weigel is the racist. But note that the first response of Democrats is to declare racism. That’s interesting, since the people acting racist in this case are (allegedly) the people in the Justice department themselves.
But there has been a trend, hasn’t there?
The Tea Party arises, and the first thing the Democrats do, over and over, without any evidence, is call them racist.
A set of Congressman get hollered at during Health Care’s final passage, and they claim they were called racist names, when the tapes clearly show they were not.
In the health care bill, Congress effectively created a “right to a nurse of your own race”. If the nursing makeup of a given hospital or area did not track the racial makeup of the area in general, the government was supposed to step in and create incentives until the racial balance was made perfect.
In the new Financial reform act, more than 20 offices of Minorities and Women were created in various governmental agencies, all focused on demanding that race be considered at every step of every bureaucratic decision.
Apparently, ever since Obama created a post-racial America, Democrats have become incapable of seeing anything but race. Their idea of a post racial America is a place where governmental bodies rigorously watch every move the public makes to make sure it is all in conformance with their ideas of race-appropriateness. And, it is a place where every time someone does not like a Democrat, the official organs of the government such as the MSM start raining down allegations of racism against the offender.
Which reminded us of an April column by the New York Times’s Charles Blow, in which he describes a Tea Party rally in Dallas that featured “a black doctor who bashed Democrats for crying racism” and a black comic who “performs skits as ‘Zo-bama.’ ” Blow summed his impressions up this way:
Thursday night I saw a political minstrel show devised for the entertainment of those on the rim of obliviousness and for those engaged in the subterfuge of intolerance. I was not amused.
So now we have the MSM going racial, refering to anyone who dares to belong to the Tea Party while being black in patently offensive, racial terms.
Post-racial, huh. No, it’s more like hyper-racial. At least on one side.
