Oh, Well. Better Luck Next Time

Global warming proponents have had very few things to buck them up this past year. One of the very few was the results from the GRACE satellite. They claimed it showed the ice pack on Antarctica was losing vast amounts of ice.

There’s just one problem.

The problem with GRACE is that it measures gravity, not ice. Changes in gravity can be due to a lot of different things beneath the surface of the ice. Antarctica has active magma chambers. Plate tectonics and isostasy also cause gravity changes.

We should be clever enough not to be blinded by technology. The claims that ice is melting in East Antarctica don’t have a lot of justification.

And sure enough, today WUWT has a post talking about a new peer reviewed paper that says the GRACE measurements are out of whack.
